Test Flight Reindeer Cleared for Flight
Word out of the Reindeer Operations Department is that all medical evaluations have been completed by the veterinarian team at the Kringle Reindeer Center and all test flight reindeer have been cleared for flight.
At present there are 72 test flight reindeer queued for duty.
Seeing that the build for the new sleigh – the first version being called Amelia — was just ordered last week by Santa we are uncertain when the first test flights will launch or how many of the reindeer will be pressed into service.
However, we do know that the first several weeks of test flights will be held very close to home at the North Pole.
This is customary, especially with a new design build.
First test flights are short and tend to focus on the fundamentals of just taking off and landing.
The safety of the pilots and reindeer are the first priority.
While test flights are scheduled beginning the first week of June we do not yet know when the actual first date during that week that flights will begin or how many there will be.
Some elves are concerned that Santa ordered 32 new sleighs built considering the new design has had zero flight evaluation. This is definitely rushed.
However, Santa said via a spokesperson elf in his office that he has confidence in the design and feels a first build order at this time will keep this project on track so that Santa can fly the new sleigh this season.
That is the most important goal.
