500 New Rookie Reindeer Added
Another class of 500 rookie reindeer have been recruited and are now in training for service for Operation Merry Christmas. That makes 900 of the 5000 rookie reindeer needed for this year.
In an associated announcement, the Reindeer Operations Department has said that these new rookie reindeer will NOT be invited to participate in the Reindeer Games schedule for mid-October this year.
“The Reindeer Games are a great event and we want to include as many as possible,” said Elf Victor, head of Reindeer Operations at the North Pole. “However, after long discussions on this issue with Santa he feels the health and safety of the young reindeer in the program is more important at this point in their development. He would like to see this class of reindeer gain some good flight experience before joining the Reindeer Games.”
5000 rookie reindeer are being recruited to help support the flights of Operation Airlift, the effort ahead of and during Santa’s flight to move elves, supplies and gifts from various locations to Santa’s sleigh as he delivers.
These 5000 additional reindeer are needed to support the more than 3500 new sleighs being built to support Santa’s flight this year.
We will keep you posted on the progress of the rookie reindeer program.
