1000 Rookie Reindeer Added | North Pole Flight Command

The rookie reindeer program at the North Pole has taken a giant step forward with 1000 additional recruits added to the training program over the weekend.

That means we’re nearly half way to the goal of 5000 rookie reindeer by the time Santa launches. If these reindeer all graduate, we’ll have 2400 rookie reindeer ready to go.

The next three months in this program are going to be intense.

Elf Big Sled Ted of the Kringle Reindeer Center, who is playing a big part in this project has said the last half of this effort will be the most difficult. He said recruiters remain active in various parts of the world to find and qualify candidates for the program.

These five thousand reindeer, coupled with the 65,000+ reindeer used last year in Operation Merry Christmas are expected to be joined by thousands of other reindeer previously retired.

Santa himself has said it may take 100,000 reindeer this year to make Operation Merry Christmas happen.

We will keep you updated.
