Sleigh Department Delivers More Sleighs
After weeks of quiet production the Sleigh Department announced today the delivery of 300 new sleighs. That brings the total fulfilled to 350.
After nearly a month since the massive order of 3500 sleighs was signed off by Santa the Sleigh Department has fulfilled 10% of that need.
“That’s not nearly enough,” admitted Sleigh Department Head Elf Charity Pickle. “These sleighs have to be ready for reindeer by December 22nd. We have to have a great month of August if we want a shot at that deadline.”
The Sleigh Department is particularly busy this year. So far, for every new version of the sleigh in test flights, Santa has been ordering 32 units. Those orders have been coming every 2 to 4 weeks. Test sleighs are tedious to build because they often require new and untested features.
“There is a big different between Santa’s sleigh and these 3500 support sleighs they’ve ordered,” Elf Charity explained. “They’re built on the same platform, so the structure is uniform. Santa’s sleigh is very sophisticated. Quite unique. The 3500 sleighs are not. They’re freighters. Made to shuttle things. Like big empty box trucks.”
But the number of sleighs needing to be produced has required a lot of assistance from craftsmen from Santa’s workshop. Elf Charity has met with Elf Bernard and both senior elves agree the need for sleighs will keep those teams working where they are in the Sleigh Department through Christmas.
“It’s a good thing we’re so far ahead in toy production,” Elf Bernard said. “They took some good people for those sleigh projects and we won’t see them back until next year.”
