Santa launches in just two hours and he is refusing the arguments of experts who claim he will regret flying a 50-year-old sleigh tonight. Santa is insisting on using the vintage sleigh and nothing will change his mind.

He also has refused to delay launch.

All departments at the North Pole are scrambling at this hour to adjust to this change of sleigh. For teams from the Wrapping Department and the Department of Distribution it should not be a big adjustment as this old sleigh is considerably larger than what Santa was originally going to fly.

But flight planners are going nuts trying to figure out just how fast this sleigh can go and if Santa can control it in extreme conditions.

Santa has logged a lot of flight time in this sleigh over the years and insists there is nothing wrong with flying this sleigh tonight.

Santa is soon to return to the North Pole and when he gets here he will face a growing group of flight experts who plan to ask him to re-consider his choice of a sleigh for his ride later tonight. They feel not enough time has recently been spent in the vintage sleigh Santa plans to use to safely carry him around the world.

They might run into a problem meeting with Santa, however. These final hours before launch are traditionally spent with Mrs. Claus to get fed and outfitted for the flight. Santa also likes to squeeze in a little nap.

Meanwhile, a variety of teams are scrambling to adjust to Santa’s new plans.

The vintage sleigh moves fast but not as fast as the sleigh Santa used last year. All flight plans were made based on a model similar to last Christmas. Some experts are predicting it could take Santa five or more hours longer than last year’s flight to get around the world. That would push his deliveries in many areas to as late as 4pm, the very end of Santa’s planned delivery window.

We will keep you posted.

**BREAKING** Santa Claus will NOT be using last year’s sleigh when he launches from the North Pole in just 7 short hours.

Santa has opted to use a vintage sleigh last flown for Christmas 1972.

Many at the North Pole are familiar with this sleigh as it is a favorite of Santa’s. He frequently takes it to classic sleigh shows and is known to favor the sleigh for personal excursions.

Flight planners, analysts and tracker experts are scrambling at this hour to understand how using a large, heavy, older model sleigh will work with Santa’s modern demands.

Please stand-by for more on this developing story.

The Weather Center at Flight Command is warning of an intensifying winter blizzard over the next several hours at the North Pole.

Christmas Eve blizzards are nothing new for North Pole Flight Command. A staff of 35 trained weather specialists manage forecasts from around the world. Another team focuses on just North Pole weather, which always seems to play a part in air operations at the North Pole Sleigh Port.

There is no indication that the severe weather will affect Santa or Operation Airlift, which is the coordination of thousands of sleighs who support Santa in his delivery phase of operations.

However, ground crews and crucial North Pole Departments such as Santa’s Workshop, the North Pole Post Office and the Wrapping Department can be affected. Protocols are in place, as this is not a unique scenario at the North Pole. No known impediments to Santa’s progress are anticipated at this time.
