Delays for Sector 5
Elves in Sector 5, covering Central and North America, have been anxiously awaiting the announcement of where the Regional Tracking Center for that sector will be located. As the most populous sector that believes in Santa it is believed the selection of a Regional Tracking Center in Sector 5 is most crucial.
“There is that thought,” Elf Roger Star, Director of Flight Command, said today when asked about possible delays for Sector 5. “We get lulled in to false hopes that Santa’s work is just wrapping up as he gets to Sector 5. The truth is that it is a challenge end to a very long ride on that sleigh. There are more houses, more believers and worse weather in December as Santa pushes North in Sector 5. Those are some of the hardest working teams out there at the Regional Tracking Center and those remote working tracker elves – well, they’re up all night tracking Santa through all the other sectors. So yeah, this Regional Tracking Center location is a big decision every year.”
Speculation has been running rampant that Mexico may see their first foray into having a Regional Tracking Center in their country. There are many elves in North Pole Flight Command who have been pushing for a Mexican location for many years. Over the past two decades the Regional Tracking Center location has varied mostly in Canada and the United States. Many have been lobbying for warmer locations such as Cancun or Puerto Vallarta.
Four Mexican cities made the final top ten, so the odds are still very good that Mexico may be selected yet.
But something is stalling this announcement. It could be a contract concern or maybe a last minute site inspection that did not go well. Elf Roger Star declined to comment and Elf Crash Murphy, International Director of Santa Trackers who has a big influence on the final location, just returned from Mexico after a quick visit there this week. “I just went down there for a couple of tacos,” Crash said.
We do know the goal was to have every Regional Tracking Center up and running by August 1st. It’s looking like Sector 5 might miss that deadline.

I hope the elves there accept the final location. Thank you for always making a hard decision on the locations every year. We can wait for the announcement, so please take time. By the way, I was just wondering if Elf Crash stayed in Germany last weekend. Lol
