Radical New Sleigh Design Takes Shape
Engineers and craftsmen are hard at work in the Sleigh Department at the North Pole constructing the first prototype of Santa’s new sleigh.
The prototype currently under construction will never take flight.
The purpose of this first build is to test it for structural integrity in the Sleigh Lab. Using a variety of test conditions under controlled circumstances the design will be evaluated for standard flight metrics and frame strength.
Based upon those tests a variety of adjustments will be necessary. Engineers will spend days pouring over test results and making changes to the sleigh’s design. Once that process is done, a flight-worthy sleigh will be built.
That first test flight sleigh will be called Amelia. Each new version of the test flight sleighs will have a different name. Since we know Amelia as the first sleigh will NOT be the final design, they have just announced that the model to follow her will be named Beatrice.
Of course, this is all just preliminary. Test flights are still weeks away and we do not yet know what challenges might come up between now and when the first flights are scheduled.
As announced via North Pole News this week, the test flight reindeer will begin evaluations next week. We anticipate that test flight pilots are soon to return as well.
We will keep you informed on the progress of Santa’s new sleigh as news becomes available.
